What is RAMIE fabric? Ramie is the world's strongest and most expensive breathable fabric, made from a plant -like cotton and linen. Ramie, also "China grass," is an ancient fiber cultivated in Asia since prehistoric times.

It was used to make shrouds for it's breathability to wrap mummies to protect, preserve and prevent them from molding in ancient Egypt and became known in Europe during the Middle Ages. 

TEXTURE: the closest comparison to ramie is silk but a little denser and not as satiny as most silk fabrics.

In this combination, ramie's smoothness balances linen’s roughness. The small blend of linen adds density to the ramie and reduces it's transparency and linen’s tendency to wrinkle.
